Q: How do I read the Positions table?
A: The columns of the Positions table provide the following information:
  • Contract shows the Binary and Futures contract positions you currently own, organized by Asset type.
  • Quantity is the number of a particular contract you own. Quantities associated with short positions are denoted by a negative number (-) in this column.
  • Current Value displays the current market price for each contract listed in the contract column. For Futures, the value of the underlying associated with the current market price for the contract is shown.
  • Traded At is the unit price for a particular contract. For Futures, the value of the underlying associated with the unit price for the contract is shown.
  • P&L shows the total profit or loss for a contract position based on the contract's Current Value and Traded At price.
  • Cash Required is the total cost associated with acquiring the particular contract position.
  • Market Value gives the total value of a contract position in the market. Essentially, market value represents the revenue that would be obtained if the entire contract position were liquidated at the Current Value price.

Q: How is the Current Value in the Positions table calculated?
A: The Current Value column of the Positions table displays the current market price for each contract listed in the contract column.

For Binaries, the current value is calculated as the average of the current inside Bid and Ask prices for the particular contract. If a Bid and Ask price is unavailable, HedgeStreet uses the last traded price for the particular contract.

For Futures, the current value is calculated using the same method described for the Binaries. However, the value of the underlying associated with the calculated current value is displayed.

HedgeStreet always displays the current value for the long position . To calculate the current value for the short position for a Binary, subtract the current value from $10; to calculate the current value for the short position for a Futures contract, subtract the current value from the contract size ($0-$100).

Q: What is the Traded At price in the Positions table?
A: The Traded At column of the Positions table shows the unit price for a particular contract. Essentially, this is the price you paid (per contract) to acquire the specific contract position. If you acquired the specific contracts at different times, and therefore at different prices, the Traded At price shown represents the average price you paid per contract for the entire position. For Futures, the value of the underlying associated with the unit price for the contract is shown.

HedgeStreet always displays the Traded At price for the long position. For Short positions, the Traded At price shown would be the unit price at which you sold the contract.

Q: What does P&L represent?
A: P&L stands for Profit and Loss. Thus, the P&L column in the Positions table shows the total profit or loss for a contract position based on the contract's Current Value and Traded At price. Specifically, this is calculated as the difference between what you paid to acquire the specific contract position (Cash Required), and the current Market Value of that position.

Q: How is the Market Value in the Positions table calculated?
A: The Market Value column in the Positions table gives the total value of a contract position in the market. Essentially, Market Value represents the cash that would be obtained if the entire contract position were liquidated at the Current Value.
